Life lately…. autumn

As the wedding season died down a little I resolved to pick up my camera a bit more to document some of my personal life…. I remember taking so many pictures for my 366 project last year, it seemed a shame that I wasn’t recording the people that mean so much to me… so here’s a few images from the last couple of months during the glorious autumn sunlight and colour.. I love autumn!

Shooting Sister’s weekend away…

A bit of a late night post I know, but I thought it was about time I got around to posting some of my images from my weekend away with the Shooting Sisters girls.  I didn’t take too many, to be honest, just wanted to relax after a busy wedding season.  It was so lovely to catch up since our last glamping trip.  I’d never been to Centre Parcs before, so that was an experience – definitely somewhere to bear in mind when thinking of going somewhere with Harry.  We chatted, drank wine, ate cake, it rained ALOT – literally like all weekend, apart from a blaze of sun for about an hour on Sunday, before tipping it down again.  We talked about photography (of course!) did a bit of shooting, experimented with flash, drank gin (oh, have I said drinking already?) had a lovely meal out, read some photography magazines.. oh and made friends with the animals.  Now, I got a little bit obsessed with the swans and squirrels, I had some fantasy notion that we could become friends and they could come in and chill out.. yes, I know, a bit weird, huh?

So anyway, thanks to my girlies, not just for the tog chats but also for the friendship, our little facebook group is often a haven for the stuff that’s sometimes hard to talk about out there in the real world xx

Ah great times Michelle – it was unbelievably wet but still so much fun. I think the swan really liked you 😉 xx

Marie & James sneak peek….

Marie & James married at Clevedon Hall in Somerset yesterday… I still feel emotional thinking about their day… so much love and emotion, reminding me what life is really about: love and family.  Thank you for being so incredibly warm and for choosing me to witness and capture it all, it was an utter privilege… and high fives to you both for braving the wet, wind and cold so we could grab some beautiful couple portraits…

Hannah & Greg – South Wales Wedding photography

Hannah and Greg got married in Bethesda Baptist Church in Pembrokeshire, which is just the cutest little Church, I loved the interior, it’s textures and colours.. they had a Welsh choir sing during the ceremony, and oh wow, that sound was so incredible in that little church my arms just prickled with goosebumps… They then headed back to Hannah’s parents house in Scolton to a marquee reception.  Hannah’s parents own Scolton Country Cottages  so if you ever fancy a trip to this beautiful part of the world, here’s a great place to stay!  It was a very family oriented day, Hannah’s bridesmaids included her 4 sisters.. and their son, Leo was just the cutest little boy… here are some of my favourite memories of the day..

Film…

I’ve been trying to shoot a bit more film this year as I love the textures, imperfections, just taking one shot and not being able to chimp at the back of the screen and of course the whole surprise element, of not quite knowing what you’re going to get. When I was growing up my dad worked for Kodak, in the darkrooms making Kodakcolour Gold. He used to work in complete darkness, 12-hour shifts with special overalls and goggles and we lived right across the street from the main site in Harrow. He was really into photography, always shooting and we had lots of cameras in the house. He was also a member of the Kodak Photographic Society and even won a few competitions… It’s funny cos sometimes I wonder what took me so long to get into photography when it was all right there in front of me…. Here are some images from the last year, shot on a mixture of holga, diana F+ and Nikon F80…

Shooting Sisters away… little sneak…

So me and my shooting sister gals headed to Centre Parcs last weekend to have a catch up……. it pretty much consisted of chatting, drinking, keeping out of the rain – (it pretty much rained all weekend!) reading lots of photography magazines, being stalked by the local swans and squirrels, makeovers, a Wonderwoman shoot (!) eating lots of yummy food and just chilling.. ahh, love getting away and seeing the girls….. here’s a little sneak, more to follow soon…

New bike…

We got Harry a new bike… we were going to wait until Christmas but his old (first) bike had plastic wheels that had gotten worn down so flat he was starting to skid off around corners.  (Oh ok, and there was a bit of impatience there on my part too!) He loves riding his bike, he’s totally obsessed with it at the moment.  He’s not fussed about his scooter anymore, he wants to go everywhere on his bike.  And he’s pretty good too, even if my heart is in my mouth a lot of the time…. Again, it’s another one of those milestones that makes you feel a bit strange… one step closer to being grown up.. in fact it made me think of that Joni Mitchell song …

Yesterday, a child came out to wander
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star

And the seasons they go ’round and ’round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

Then, the child moved ten times ’round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like, “When you’re older”, must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams

And the seasons they go ’round and ’round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return we can only look behind
From where we came,
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town
And they tell him, “Take your time. It won’t be long now.
‘Til your drag your feet to slow the circles down”

And the seasons they go ’round and ’round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
There’ll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through.

And the seasons they go ’round and ’round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return, we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and ’round and ’round
In the circle game
And go ’round and ’round and ’round in the circle game.

Here he is about 30 mins after getting it… “it’s perfect mummy” … check out that pose too!
