Last year I got to travel to Budapest, Hungary for Lilla & Paul’s wedding. I’d never been to Hungary before although my family are Czech so it was lovely to feel a bit of a connection with that part of the world… especially when I travelled to Lilla’s parents’ house outside Budapest. It reminded me so much of the villages and houses outside Prague. Anyway, the first thing to say about this wonderful wedding is that it was HOT!! Oh my, at around 11 am on their wedding day I checked the weather and it was 33 degrees already! I knew it was going to be a challenge to shoot in such intense heat but luckily there was lots of water at hand from the restaurant, so I could keep hydrated and concentrate on the job! Lilla and Paul married outside in the beautiful grounds of the hotel Rosinante. Lilla’s friend Brigitte, who is a very talented professional singer, sang beautifully during the ceremony but I think the highlight for me was Lilla’s niece singing ‘Over The Rainbow’ – wow, just wow! What a talented girl… After the ceremony we zoomed off to capture some portraits. Paul wanted some shots taken in a field of sunflowers where. in the background, on the hill, Lilla’s parents’ house is. We then managed to find some shade for some more lovely portraits and then headed back for the meal. One of the exciting things for me during this wedding was the meal and sampling some traditional Hungarian food – it was absolutely delicious! Then came the speeches and Paul had put together a special montage of photos to music, featuring his and Lilla’s lives, and their friends and families. You could see how much friends and family mean to Lilla and Paul and you could see how moved everyone was watching it.
The celebrations went on long into the night and it became (slightly) cooler! Thank you so much for choosing me to be part of your day and for taking care of me so well in Hungary! I wish you all the very best in your future together… xxx
